Osha - 89th @ 2nd

My boyfriend and I went out for a lovely dinner tonight at a restaurant called Osha.

Osha was everything I hoped it would be based the reviews I had read on Yelp. and SO. MUCH. MORE. Our waitress was energetic and always smiling without being cloying or too overinvolved. The Tom Yum soup was tied for the best of this dish I have ever had (the other "Best Tom Yum Award" goes to Saigon City in Portland, ME) - I got mine with shrimp which were perfectly cooked (and surprisingly didn't cost extra).

BF had the Roast Duck Pad Thai which was a special. The outside was crispy and the inside melted in the mouth and was buttery smooth. I had the Panang Curry which featured a perfect balance of sweet and had a bit of a kick at the end of each bite. The veggies were very crisp and fresh, and the chicken was really tender. There wasn't a lot of rice, which I appreciated because . . . with a giant bowl of fresh veggies and meat I wasn't inclined to dig in to unflavored white rice. The sauce that was left at the end I actually took home, and plan to use over homecooked veggies or noodles. Yes - it was THAT good.

The spring rolls were also perfectly cooked, but I am not stressing them much because it's hard to go wrong with a deep fried wonton wrapper full of crunchy veggies anywhere you are :).

It was BYOB, and since we uncorked our wine before we got there and we were not charged a corking fee.

The ambience was also really awesome - in fact - if I passed it on the street and looked in I would probably keep walking thinking I couldn't afford it. They have 3 huge chandeliers and 3 wall sconce chandeliers. One of the walls was exposed brick and the other was a modern black and white floral which matched the very crisp black and white overall decor. What a pleasant surprise. I mean seriously.

The whole meal with a soup, an appetizer, two entrees, great ambience, and awesome service was $40.00 including 22% tip. The wine was $3 buck chuck Chardonnay from Trader Joes which brings the grand total to $43.00.

HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Especially if you like Duck, or Tom Yum!
